Getting Started

Install Spoke Work and make your first recording.

Installation

Download Spoke Work from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Requires iOS 16+ or Android 8+.

Sign In

Open the app and sign in with your SpokeDo account. New accounts receive starter credits.

Grant Permissions

Spoke Work requires microphone access for recording. Grant the permission when prompted — recording will not work without it.

Create a Channel

Channels represent recurring meetings or contexts:

1. Go to the Home tab
2. Tap New Channel
3. Choose a meeting type: In-Person, Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams
4. Add participants with their name and a short description (used for AI speaker identification)

Your First Recording

1. Select a channel or tap Record for an ad-hoc session
2. Configure speaker settings (number of speakers, language)
3. Tap Record — live transcription appears as people speak
4. Tap Stop when done

The recording is saved as a WAV file. If the upload fails, the app retries automatically (up to 3 attempts with exponential backoff at 2s, 5s, 10s delays).

Configure Translation

Before recording, enable translation:

1. Tap the translation toggle in the recording screen
2. Select a target language (Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, French, or German)
3. Translations appear alongside the original transcript during recording

Translation uses a streaming approach via Server-Sent Events with an 800ms debounce and 40-character minimum threshold to ensure quality.
